Becoming A Proverbs 31 Woman

Ladies, if there is one thing that we should have on the top of our aspiration list, then it should be the aspiration to become a Proverbs 31 woman! Proverbs 31 talks about the traits and characteristics that a virtuous woman obtains, and we should each strive to have those characteristics!

So what are the characteristics of a Proverbs 31 woman? Well let’s take a look each one that the Bible says a virtuous woman has!

“Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.”Proverbs 31:10

The worth of a Proverbs 31 woman is worth more than rubies. A Proverbs 31 woman is noble, wise, honest, and praises the Lord.

“The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.” Proverbs 31:11

A virtuous wife is faithful and her husband does not have to worry about his wive being unfaithful when he is not present. A Proverbs 31 woman stays loyal to her husband and stands by his side even when he is not around or is not looking.

“She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.” Proverbs 31:12

Along with being faithful to her husband, a Proverbs 31 woman is always submissive to her husband. She trusts him and does him good. The roll of being a wife if very important to a Proverbs 31 woman, and she is devoted all of the days of her life to her husband.

“She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands.” Proverbs 31:13

A Proverbs 31 woman is very hardworking. She is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, even if it means working with her hands and getting them dirty.

“She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar.” Proverbs 31:14

A virtuous wife will do anything to increase her domestic skills even if it means going to drastic measures. She looks for better ways to serve her husband and help her children.

“She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants.” Proverbs 31:15

Again, she provides her household, but also for others like her maidservants. She has a heart to serve not only her family, but for those who help her as well.

“She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard.” Proverbs 31:16

Another trait a Proverbs 31 woman posses is using her money wisely. She buys things with profit in mind and with a plan.

“She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.” Proverbs 31:17

A Proverbs 31 woman never gives up and maintains her strength. She strengthens herself even more when needed and keeps on going.

“She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night.” Proverbs 31:18

She is also positive about her choices and her role never stops. Just because it is night time, she does not put her lamp out. She is always a virtuous wife, and nothing will stop that.

“She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle.” Proverbs 31:19

Along with being hardworking, a Proverbs 31 woman has skill in industry.

“She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.” Proverbs 31:20

A Proverbs 31 woman is very kind and generous to the poor. She has a servant’s heart and gives as much as she can to those who cannot help her back in return.

“She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet.”Proverbs 31: 21

She does not fear the winters for her family is clothed in scarlet. The blood of Christ has covered her family and the darkness and the coldness of winter cannot phase them for they have the covering of the Blood of Jesus over them.

“She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.” Proverbs 31:22

A Proverbs 31 woman is very creative and strives to be artistic.

“Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land.” Proverbs 31:23

Her husband is very well known with the elders.

“She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants.” Proverbs 31:24

A Proverbs 31 woman makes and sells items. She is crafty and put hers talents into use.

“Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.” Proverbs 31:25

Strength and honor are a Proverbs 31 woman’s clothing. She rejoices in times to come.

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.” Proverbs 31:26

A Proverbs 31 woman is very wise and kind.

“She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.” Proverbs 31:27

She is always watching over her family and doesn’t get into the habit of becoming lazy. She is always on her toes and never stops her duties.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:” Proverbs 31:28

Her children call her a blessing and her husband praises her.

“Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.” Proverbs 31:29

A Proverbs 31 woman excels in all things and she goes above and beyond to do the best to her abilities.

“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”Proverbs 31:30

A Proverbs 31 woman fears the Lord.

“Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31:31

The fruit she produced will be praised and she may enjoy the good things her character has produced.

A Proverbs 31 woman has many characteristics, which all of us women want! We aren’t going to be perfect at each one, but with prayer and with Christ, we can achieve and obtain the characteristics that a Proverbs 31 woman has!

As women of God, we must strive to be the best we can be for His glory. No matter what point in your life you may be at, you can always strive and practice being a Proverbs 31 woman!

  1. Amen, awesome! I love how the part where it takes about clothing her family you compared it to clothing them spiritually! With the Word that they might be covered by the blood of Jesus. I’d never thought of it like that but that’s so important!
