The Courage of Esther

We all known who Esther is. Esther was the Queen of Persia and she protected the Jews from being massacred. Esther was strong in her faith and showed great courage. We should be like Esther. We should stand up and protect people when we know that bad things are coming and we should stay close to Christ during these times also.

“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”” Esther 4:14

Mordecai, who was Esther’s guardian, heard of the evil scheme that Haman was plotting against the Jews due to Mordecai’s rejection to bow to him. Mordecai immediately told Esther, but he also warned her. He told her if she were to remain silent, she would perish. He also noted that she has a purpose for being queen, which he alludes to her having a chance to save the Jewish people.

In this moment, Esther had a big choice to make. Either she stays silent or she tells the king the evil plot of Haman.

” “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” ” Esther 4:16

Esther decided not to wait, and she immediately puts her plan into action. Esther  commands for all the Jews who are present in Shushan to fast for three days, and she and her attendants will do the same. After the three day fast, she will go to the king, even though it is against the law to do so uninvited, and talk to him . She is courageous enough to give her life to protect the Jews of the Persian Empire, and she accepts the fate of potentially dying for her bravery.

However, the king is pleased that she came to visit him and he offers to give her whatever she wants. Esther asked for a banquet and then another one the day after that. Haman, who is setting up gallows to kill the Jews, was command to honor Mordecai because he saved the king’s life!

At the second banquet, Esther told the king about Haman’s plan to slaughter the Jews of Persia. This angered the king and he called for Haman to be executed.

With Esther’s bravery, she protected the Jews from being mass-executed! If she showed fear or a lack of faith, she would have to live in guilt for the rest of her life. We should be like Esther. We should have her courage, her bravery, and her faith!

If you know something is wrong and you have the chance to stop it from happening, you should take that leap and stop it at all costs! Who cares what people think and who cares who about what others will say about it. Esther didn’t care about what the king would do if she visited him uninvited. Esther didn’t care if she lost her life and she didn’t give up on her faith.

It doesn’t matter if we aren’t a queen like Esther. We can still be like her in the way of standing against evil and standing up for what is good.

“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13

As believers in Christ, we should stand strong  in our faith, be brave, and be strong! When a plot of evil is brewing, we should lean on our faith, be brave, and confront that evil plan and end it in all ways possible! Esther stopped a huge massacre from happening, so we have no excuse as to why we can’t take a stand against evil plans! With Christ, you can do all things, so don’t think He can’t use you to stop an evil plan!

It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from. You should stand for Christ and keep your eyes open! In today’s day, we see a lot of evil plans in the works. Leaders are trying to divide Israel, leaders are becoming dictators, and leaders are diving their own countries. These issues will have long lasting impacts on our world, and with our voice and our faith, we could make a difference.

Now is the time to act and now is the time to be fearless. Esther didn’t put off her plan! She put it into action right away, so we should too. We shouldn’t push it to the side and say “I’ll come back to it later!” How do you know if there is a later? How do you know how much time you have? You must act immediately if you want to make an impact before time is up!

The next time you see or hear of something destructive about to happen, pray to God for direction, take action, and be brave! You have no idea how God is using you! He may be using you to lead a mass of people to Christ or He may be leading you to take a stand against a major issue that needs to be addressed.

No matter what you are being used for, you should be willing to automatically react to it and take a stand. Don’t worry about what will happen to you, for Jesus will never lead you into disaster. When following Christ, you must be willing to give your all for Him even if it means your own life if you have too!
