When God Calls Us To Be Patient

We all have times where the storm we are facing is furious and we want the storm to cease immediately; however, sometimes God will allow the waves to roar so He can calm us. Patience is a trait that most people will admit to having trouble with, but God calls us to that! He wants us to be patient and trust Him!

      “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.” Psalm 37:7

We should wait on God and be patient because He knows what He has in store for our lives. We should be willing to wait for an answer and not get hasty when things are not going the way we thought they would go. There are those who are so impatient, come up with evil schemes to get to where they want to go. Instead of waiting on God, they went on their own time, which is something we should never do.

What we want in our lives might not be what God wants for us, so we must open our heats and listen to Him! When you are not patient and full of distress, you sound out His voice and you can no longer hear Him, which will make your situation even worse.

     “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” Philippians 4:6

Instead, of getting restless and anxious about things we want, we should go to the Lord in prayer and let Him know our requests. After we let Him know what is on our hearts, we must not be anxious and step back. When we are not anxious, we have a better chance of being patient. Impatience and anxiousness go hand and hand. When you are too eager to get your hands on something, you will probably become impatient soon after.

“rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; ” Romans 12:12

When we are hopeful, we rejoice, and when we are in tribulation, we must be patient! During each of these scenarios, we must be steadfast in prayer. No matter how good or how bad things are, you must be in constant prayer. Keeping yourself in prayer at all times, will leave less room for impatience to live. When you go to Him all the time, seek Him all the time, and when you depend on Him all the time, there is no room to become impatient for you know that He has a plan!

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9

When you are in an area of your life where things seem to be going wrong, do not give up! Have faith and stay patient! You will eventually reap your reward if you do not give up! Instead of getting angry and being impatient with the way things are, take a deep breath and realize that God is working in your life!

When we allow Christ to better us and to give us more patience, we will see a drastic change in the way we handle things. We will be quick to go into prayer instead of hastiness. When we stay patient, we will not give up and we will allow God to work in our lives!

When we focus on what Christ wants, then things will fall into place, but before then, you must learn that impatience doesn’t get your far. It may get you to where you want to go, but it will not get you to where Christ wants you to be. When you are impatient, your storm will never cease due to your denial of letting Christ take over.  You must let go and let God, and you will not be disappointed when you finally make that leap!
