We all have dreams that we want to come true. Some of us want to be doctors and others want to be the President of the United States! However, those dreams don’t just happen. You have to be determined and work for it. You can’t just expect your dreams to fall right your lap if you don’t use your talents that God gave you. God gave us a brain and the ability to work, so we must use it. God can’t lead the way if you are lazy, aren’t willing to follow Him, or do the things He wants you to do.
“The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing;
But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.” Proverbs 13:4
When you are lazy, you get nothing, but the person who is diligent and does not fall into laziness be blessed for their hard work! As a high school senior, I have many dreams in life. I have so many aspirations, but they can’t come true if I don’t work for it. I have to go to college, get my degrees, work my way to the top, and then continue going after other aspirations that I dream of.
Many people these days are expecting God to do things when they are lazy. You cannot expect Christ to work in you when you put nothing in. God doesn’t reward bad behavior, and being lazy is considered bad behavior.
We must break out of our laziness, and this is more towards the seniors in high school. We are about to enter college, get internships, get jobs, and so forth. We have no time to be lazy and we have no time to slack off. This is the time where we buckle down and become determined.
“not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;” Romans 12:11-12
No matter where we are, we must always be diligent, fervent in the spirit, and we should always serve the Lord. Whether we are in hope, tribulation, or in prayer, we should always be in some sort of communication with the Lord! Whether it is praising Him or praying for help, we must not give up. We should not use our current situations as a reason to give up! Instead, when we press through and depend on Christ, He will lead the way.
Many people give up when the going get’s rough, but my mama always told me; “If the going get’s rough, you have to get tough.” Do not let your situation stop your dreams. We are all going to have lows in every field of work, so you can’t allow one to stop you. Our whole lives are going to he filled with battles, but if we keep enduring until the end, Christ will get us through.
God gives us each a plan and a love in life, but we have to be determined to follow that plan. In today’s day, our unemployment rate is low, which means a lot of people aren’t working, which is being caused by many factors. If you are reading this, I hope you know what God has called you to do, and if you know, then go after it! Do not be lazy, but instead chase that plan that God has for you!
“Commit your works to the Lord,
And your thoughts will be established.” Proverbs 16:3
When we commit our works to Jesus, He will make our thoughts established. When we give our hard work to him, our goals to Him, and our determination for His glory, then He will establish our thoughts! Therefore, if you know that God is calling you into a certain field, be determined put hard work into it, but always give the glory to the Lord!
When we go reach our goals, we must always give God the glory. He was the one who paved the way, and we should credit Him for that. He’s the one who called you, He’s the one who mapped out your life, so why are you going to take credit, when it’s God who should get the credit?
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17
No matter what we do, we should always give God the glory. God has done so much for us, that we should praise Him! He sent His only Son to die for us so we could have eternal life! The gift of salvation is the biggest reason for us to glorifying Him! Therefore, in all other things, we should give Him the glory!
Whether you are a high school senior, a college senior, or whether you are working, be determined, goal orientated, and let God lead the way! He knows His plans for your life, and He will never lead you into disaster, but that does not give us the excuse not to work hard. Like I mentioned before, Jesus does not reward bad behavior, so be hard working, and always give the glory to Him!
