We all have enemies, but there are some people who try to make everyone like them. We have people who sway back and forth politically so they have both sides loving them, we have people who love Jesus and the world so they have everyone liking them, but that is wrong. If you have no enemies who would love to debate you, then you’re either back and forth with your views, or you’re the kind of person who sits in the middle of every single topic.
At only nineteen, I can tell you I have made a lot of enemies. I can list about over ten people who either hate me poltically or religiously, but that’s fine, for I know where I stand in my beliefs. A person who doesn’t have confrontation is a person who is indecisive in their beliefs due to the constant “back and forth” to make others happy, which is wrong. When we accept Christ into our hearts, we should stop trying to impress others, for the only person we should please is Christ.
When you’re a Christian, you have one major enemy, which is the world, so why try to make everyone agree with you? We are called to set apart from the world, and when doing so, you will encounter people who will argue with you, ridicule you, and mock you, so you might as well give up the fight of being “everyone’s friend.”
” “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16
A person who is neither hot or cold is considered lukewarm. A lukewarm person straddles the fence and never makes a decision. This kind of person is indecisive, fails to have opinions, and tries to make everyone happy. Lukewarm people would rather be in the middle than have enemies for what they believe in, which angers the Lord. We must make a choice to either follow Christ or not follow Him, but those who are in the middle will be vomited out of Jesus’ mouth.
A person who is indecisive makes Jesus nauseous, for that person is not willing or brave to take a stand. There is a price to everything, either you choose to follow Christ and make enemies in the world or you choose to be a friend to everyone and have Jesus be nauseated by you.
““If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15
If we profess to love Jesus, then we will keep His commandments, which will anger those who disagree with Biblical principles. In conclusion, it is impossible for a person to not make enemies in their lifetime. In order to have absolutely no one disagree with you or hate your stances, you would have to continuously stay neutral, indecisive, and never have an opinion on something.
In the end, we will all have to make decisions in life, which will leave some happy and others upset, but as a Christian, there is no way you can uphold Biblical principles while never having anyone hate you. If you want everyone to like you, then you will have to deny Christ, but if you want to uphold the Word of God, then you will have to accept the fact that people will be against you due to your beliefs. You may choose to straddle the fence, but when it comes to following Jesus and the world, everyone will have to make that decision for there is no neutral answer.
