Differentiating and Expounding The Difference Between A Godly Woman and An Immoral Woman

The blog post from yesterday has had me thinking of not only the misconceptions of being a godly woman, but the differences in a godly woman and an immoral woman and how the Lord views the two types of women, so I thought I would break the two down on deeper levels than just scratching the surface. All of the time, I see people asking “What is godly living,” and it is heartbreaking to see people ask that. Our society has promoted drugs, sex, alcohol, and slander, which has caused girls to have no idea where to start with godliness or what godliness is, so I thought I’d break down godliness vs. immorality for the world seems to get the two confused.

Before we get into explaining meaning of being a godly woman on a more profound level, we need to answer the abstract question first, “What is an immoral woman?”

“For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey,
And her mouth is smoother than oil;
But in the end she is bitter as wormwood,
Sharp as a two-edged sword.” Proverbs 5:3-4

Though a woman who is immoral has lips that drip of honey, she is bitter and sharp as a two-edged sword. This goes to show how deception works. We may think this woman is sweet, but in the inside, she is bitter, hostile, and ungodly.

“This is the way of an adulterous woman:
She eats and wipes her mouth,
And says, “I have done no wickedness.”” Proverbs 30:20

An immoral woman think she has done nothing wrong and that she has not commited any sins, yet she does. A woman who denies godliness views herself as perfect. A wordly woman thinks she cannot commit any sin and that she is blameless, but she is infact at fault for her actions.

A woman who is immoral denies the need of Jesus, for a person who says they are without sin are without God. An immoral woman views good as evil and evil as good, and tries to make things look pretty with sweet words and the outer appearance while her soul is dark and damaged.

“And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.” 1 Timothy 5:13

An inmoral woman goes from house to house gossiping, spreading lies, injecting into things they should not be in, and meddles in other people’s problems. An inmmoral woman does not tend to her own business, but thinks she has the place in everyone’s lives, and has no concept of personal space.

The Bible classifies an immoral woman as being a person who thinks they are “sinless,”
and the Bible also characterizes her as being bitter, deceptive, troublesome, and a person who meddles into things. This is what it means to be the opposite of a godly woman, and it should be something that no one wants to be.

Now that we have defined what an immoral woman is, we can now answer the question of “What is a godly woman?” Though I have many posts that have this answer, let’s take the answer to a deeper level.

“Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”” Luke 1:45

A godly woman is blessed for she believes there will be a fulfillment of the things that the Lord told her. A godly woman has faith in God and does not doubt His plans. She puts her trust and her faith in Him, and though she cannot see Him, she still believes in Him. Therefore, a godly woman is considered to be blessed due to her devotion to Him.

“Open your mouth for the speechless,
In the cause of all who are appointed to die.[a]
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy.”

Though this goes for both men and women, a woman who wants to be godly speaks for those who cannot speak, judges righteously, and helps those who are poor and needy. A godly woman is known to be a helper and a fighter of righteousness. A woman who aspires to be godly puts others before herself, and does not ask for anything in return. Though she may be strong in Christ, she understands that there are people who are lost and weak, so she shares the love of Christ to them, and explains that His strength, love, and grace is all they need.

“Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23

Like before, this verse goes for both men and women who aspire to be godly, so it goes both ways. However, a woman who is godly will be careful with her heart for she knows that the issues of life springs from her heart. Though it may be hard at times, we must not let sins into our hearts. Although the world may say it is okay, a godly woman will know that it is destructive to the heart and her relationship with Christ.

In conclusion, an immoral woman has a heart of bitterness, deceptiveness, and wickedness, and she is in need of the Lord. Sadly, the world views this as “today’s woman.” and sees no wrong in being immoral, but that is not true. God wants women to be godly, which means total devotion of faith to Him, selflessness, and being careful with what infiltrates our hearts. As you can see, there are major differences in godliness and immorality. Though the world may say that being immoral is “okay,” we know what the Word of God says, and should fearlessly advocate godly living, for many people are in need of Jesus!
